The AEU has been engaged in a major transition for the past few years.  The Board has been attempting to distinguish between governance and management functions so that it can concentrate on governance and delegate the management functions to staff.  In furtherance of this effort, the AEU hired an Executive Director, a CEO, to serve as the link between the governance and management in January, 2003.  The Executive Director is leaving as of July 20, 2005, to pursue a different career path.  The AEU Board is soliciting candidates to fill the Executive Director position on an interim basis, period to be negotiable not to exceed 2 years.  Major skills needed for the position include strategic ! ! planning, fund raising, staff management, program development, and communication.

The American Ethical Union, a national federation of Ethical Humanist congregations with offices in New York, seeks an Executive Director to serve as CEO on an interim basis, length of interim period negotiable not to exceed 2 years.  It is fully anticipated that the AEU will seek a permanent Executive Director to come on board at the conclusion of the interim period.
The ED will be a creative, knowledgeable, experienced professional who can work collegially with both paid staff and volunteers, with a good background in strategic planning, fund raising, and membership development, and able to provide leadership in developing and achieving program, organizational, and financial plans for carrying out the mission of the organization.
