[AEU Announcements] False Alarm

A few people on AEU email lists have received an email purporting to be
from the AEU and alerting you to a problem with your email account, with an
attachment that purports to be a virus checker. There is usually a
password in the email.

The email is clever, but it is a ruse to get you to open a file that will
result in a virus or worm being activated on your system.

This is in no way being sent from the AEU.org domain, nor is there any way
to prevent such spoofing. Please remember (a) to have antivirus software
and keep it up to date if you use email, to avoid being infected and
infecting others, and (b) not to open attachments unless there is solid
evidence that it was deliberately sent.
